To treat tooth displacements, braces are used very often. TheraMon® does increase the quality and efficiency of the treatment with braces to the patients as well as the orthodontists benefit.

There are two main different treatments with braces :

1) The non-removeable braces (brackets) - this is a permanent-in-use brace and it is not possible for patients to remove it sometime for lunch oder other accasions. After the brace is removed from the the orthodontist at the end of the active treatment, it is required to wear a so called retainer for some time (up to 2 years and even longer) which ensures the stability of the treatment. 2.) The removeable brace

Different to non-removeable braces, this type can be taken out of the moth by the patient himself very easily (for lunch, sport acticities, etc.). This makes the treatment very comfortable in most situations but requires very much discipline from the patient. Very easily the patient is getting lazy and forgets to put the brace into his/her mouth and their is only very little or even no progress of the treatment. The reasons may be sometimes very understandable but the problem of tooth displacement stays much longer than expected or even for the rest of the life. The treatment is a waste of time (also of the orthodontists time !) and a lot of money has been wasted for little or no result. All in all this is an extremely unsatisfying situation for everybody.

How can TheraMon® help ?

TheraMon® not only increases the wearing dicipline of the patient due to the known implemented transponder but also enables the orthodontist to a honest and correct diagnosis. Only by knowing the real wearing time without guesswork the progress of the treatment can be rated correctly. Normally a great wearing dicipline leads to fast treatment progress and can be continued to the successful end of the treatment without changing to more expensive treatments with non-removable braces and their limits in variuos life situations. If the treatment is inspite of great patient discipline and sufficient wearing time not showing the expected progress, orthodontists can experience this at an very early stage and can change the treatment to whatever is needed to achieve the expected result of the treatment.

On the other hand there is no need for treatment adaptions of the orthodontist, if the wearing time is very poor. This extends the treatment period of the patient to the own disadvantage or the treatment has to be changed to more expensive non-removeable braces with much reduced comfort for the patient, sometime the treatment also has to be stopped, the tooth displacement remains for the rest of the life or the treatment needs to be continued at an higher age and more increased patient discipline.

TheraMon® takes out all the emotions of the discussions between dentist/orthodontist and patient (and mostly because of the young age of the patients) their parents. There is no more begging because of poor but denied wearing time, as Theramon® brings it down to real facts. Sometimes to the advatage for the patient because of poor wearing time - but sometimes also to the benefit of the patient by proofing great wearing discipline to the orthodontist!

As soon as the orthodontist has removed non-removeable braces, the patient needs to wear a so called retainer to support the soft tissue in stabilizing the achieved tooth placement. A retainer or retention plate is very similar to removeable braces and is very important at this stage of the treatment. Wearinga retainer requires again much dicipline and a lot of wearing time to stabilize already achieved excellent results.

In case, the removeable brace requires some repair or maintenance, proofed great wearing time sometimes enables to reduced or even free of charge repair from lab technicians too. Lab technicians also will have a reader to invesigate the correct function of the transponder before and after installation
