It may sound funny, but beeing a patient wearing a brace with a transponder during the treatment you are concerned the least, but at the end of the treatment you will gain the most out of it !
You do not have to treat your brace differently to braces without transponders !
Only during cold winter seasons you should prevent to expose the brace to extreme coldness for a long time as this may shorten the lifetime of the accumulator of the transponder, which could lead to a required charging cycle done by lab technicians or your orthodontist.
Just treat your brace carefully with appropriate hygiene according to your orthodontists advise. This applies to braces with or without braces.
Your brace is an cost intensiv high tech product manufactured with outstanding technical skills of lab technicians, especially produced for you only. It is an excellent investment in your personal health and lifestyle for your own future. Therefor take care of your brace in your own interest, so you can protect it from repairs or expensive adaptions during your treatment period.
Knowing about the impleted transponder will increase your personal motivation in wearing the brace and you will benefit from a more understandable treatment. Keep in mind, insufficient wearing time does infect nobody else but you ! You don´t do anybody a favor by wearing the brace, but if you do not wear it the treatment never seems to end or even worse - the treatment will be aborted wihout any treatment success. This is something you definately will regret some time later !
What happens at the orthodontists office ?
Everytime when you visit the orthodontist, he will position your brace in the reader and he will see the real wearing time after a few seconds on the PC monitor. Let him show you the graph or even ask him for a printout. When you look at the data, you may remember those days, when you did not wear the brace sufficiently for some reason. If this is happening very very rarely, it may not have a great bad influence to the treatment, but better you ask your doctor about it. Nobody is perfect, but make the best out of it and wear it as much as possible - there is no overdose of wearing a brace !
